-I mysteriously received 2 months-Sept and OCT issue of Good Housekeeping this week. Looked all thru the magazine and cannot find a customer service#..I googled good housekeeping phone#-got 800-888-****, a call center- They said they will "suspend" delivery- and that is all they could do. I was given yet another for VM Promo #866-832-****, who said the subscription, came from Pro-flowers. Evidentially, when I ordered flowers from their website back in MAY, they decided to send me a "free" 2 year subscription without my ordering it. I am told it will stop today and I will not be charged. We will see. Be careful when you order online. This is a scam! and a sneaky way to get you to pay in the future for Good Housekeeping. I don't appreciate it, nor do I order magazines, if I did, I will initiate the order. Don't try to trick me into getting it when I send flowers.

**I made a 2nd follow up call to VM Promo- I cannot believe I got the same nice rep,her name was "Catherine".

However, I found that:

#1 VM Promo, can NOT provide me a letter in writing that this has been cancelled.

#2 VM Promo does NOT have EMAIL capability to email me a letter???

#3 VM Promo is taking complaints and will give it to the supervisor named "ALLEN".

#4 VM Promo does NOT have a mailing address to where I may send a letter to them myself.

#5 VM Promo will NOT provide a confirmation #, only a name.

#6 VM Promo is based out of Arizona, but their corporate office is in Chicago- and they do NOT take complaint letters there, only questions about subscriptions.

#7 VM Promo verbally assured me that I am not going to be billed for the two issues of my "free 2 yr.subsciption."

END RESULT: PRO FLOWERS has lost my business if they do not resolve.

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

started receiving US Weekly. had no clue why.

Got the same response when I tried to cancel. They said I had to contact Valuemag.

That's how I came to this blog. Proflowers has lost me, as well....

I received 2 issues of PARENTS magazine. I immediately got online and cancelled my subscription through PARENTS website.

They told me I would have to contact VM Promo with regards to any refund or payment. What kind of scam company is this?!

I too just received a People subscription. I do not know what site it come from but since it was sent to my fake internet name but my correct address (because I ordered something) I know this is a phony.

I called People and they suspended People but I have to contact VM. Who needs this. A review mentioned ELF.

That my have been where mine came from. BEWARE.

I received a subscription to Family Fun magazine which is geared toward young children. I have no young children and do not want this magazine.

When I called the 800 number I got a machine which told me to respond "yes" to a text message. The message said that I would be charged $9.99 per month for something.

Needless to say, I ignored the text. I am not happy.

I am 68 years old and have been receiving Fitness Magazine for a few months. I contacted Fitness Magazine via email to discontinue it and they told me that the order was placed through an agency and that they can only discontinue with the agency's approval.

THANK YOU for alerting me that it was done through ProFlowers. I ordered flowers from them last Summer for a funeral. That will be the LAST time for sure.

And I thought that it was done thru AARP!! lol

I, too, started to receive Newsweek mag and my husband Ebony mag (we are white so it is kinda funny), and I contacted Newsweek who told me i needed to contact VM promo. I use Proflowers so i figured I got on the list thru them after reading this blog.

I could not get thru to VM promo and decided to make this Proflowers problem. I called Proflowers and talked to Jen who was knowledgable and curtious and knew what the problem was right away and how to fix it. She explained that on some orders there is a box that is already checked and if not manually unchecked it puts you on the list to receive "free" mags. I asked her to talk to" the chain of command" to let them know that customers do not like to be hijacked like that.

And that I, for one, will no longer be using Proflowers for my flower purchases. Years back Proflowers had some scam that if you bought a groupon it took you to a different part of their website with higher prices to make up for the money you were saving with the groupon. How very slimey this company sounds - we are done with Proflowers.

I had to waste my time calling and researching this problem. Shame on them.

A similar thing happened to me, although I am receiving FamilyFun which I did not order. Although my delivery was suspended, I am trying to call Vmpromo & the number was disconnected.

Like several others, I received the Rachel Ray magazine, which I never ordered (and don't want) and kept trying to figure out HOW I got it. It's now taken several weeks just to finally get a response from them and I was given the same info - VM Promo with the phone number.

I too ordered from Proflowers - so I guess that is where the mystery ends. You place an order and they sign you up for a magazine subscription that you never agreed to or wanted.

I mysteriously started getting Rachel Ray magazine. I like it, but wouldn't have subscribed to it.

Since it's free I'm not going to worry about it. I check my credit card bill religiously so I would notice if I got billed down the road. I also ordered from ProFlowers but I don't remember anything about a magazine.

It's pretty sneaky and very random in that you just get a random magazine that you may or may not want. Whatever, I'm keeping it but I won't renew when the bill comes.

We were receiving Newsweek magazine and we did not pay for a subscription. I called Newsweek, and they told me it was a free subscription taken out for me by VM Promo on behalf of ProFlowers.

They gave me VM Promo's phone number to call, and the number they gave me was different from those in the other comments: 866-832-****. The representative I spoke with assured me I would no longer receive the magazine. Just like "Tbclephane," we'll see.

I'm following Tbclephane's action: I will never order from ProFlowers again.

I had no idea I was "signing up" for a "free" magazine when I ordered flowers from them! What a scam!

I also received Reader's Digest this week. RD was very helpful in responding to my inquire as to why I received it.

I checked my order with ProFlowers and sure enough, you have to affirmatively elect NOT to receive the magazine. I have to say I was really disappointed with this. I have ordered MANY times through ProFlowers without a problem. Now this happened.

And the flowers that were delivered for my grandmother's 90th birthday were NOT fresh. ProFlowers arranged for another flower order per their guarantee and I appreciate that. However, I have been informed that those flowers were not fresh either. I wrote ProFlowers for a refund.

We will see if I get it.

My only concern with the magazine is whether the subscription will auto-renew on my credit card in two years. It would be easy enough for most people to forget to check that two years down the road.

Hmm... I just got a Rachael Ray magazine in the mail Seems VM Promo sent me the subscription.

I freaking HATE Rachael Ray. I did place a couple of orders through ProFlowers but don't remember anything about a magazine.

I just mysteriously started receiving Good Housekeeping also...perfect nice magazine but not one that would subscribe too. Thanks for your post, and for helping me figure out the mystery. I have tried calling VM Promo and only reaced a recording.

Tbclephane-

The promotional subcription was included at no additional cost with your purchase from ProFlowers.com. You have not been charged. We do not have your billing information. And, the subscription will NOT auto-renew.

Please call us at 800-303-**** if you wish to cancel.

Thanks!

Just called VM Promo about this same concern. My family started to receive Cosmopolitan and Reader's Digest.

The woman from VM Promo was very kind about stopping the subscriptions. I did recommend that they contact ProFlowers about changing the wording on the website to "If you would like to receive this offer click here" or something similar. My complaint about this is that some magazines may not be welcome in some households. My niece offered to sort today's mail into a pile for her Mommy and another for Daddy.

When she found the cosmo magazine, I tried to pick it up before she had a chance to read anything. Too late, her first question was "What is Sex?".

Same thing happenined to me but the magazine is a free promo that is listed on the Pro Flowers web page as you order. It's free so I don't understand how you can be upset.

When the subscription runs out....don't renew it.

Pro Flowers is a reputable business and I highly doubt they'd hire a scam artist company to "Steal" $20 for a magazine subscription from you. Settle down turbo.

Guest

Exact same thing is happening to me. I am currently trying to contact VM promo but keep getting a recorded message.
